What You Need to Make this Classic Frozen Margarita Recipe
What is even in this amazing Birthday Cake Margarita? Oh, well, that’s a really good question.
Aaaand, you’re probably going to be surprised.
An actual cupcake makes the list, as well as some sprinkles and food coloring.
Surprised?
I made it and I kind of am.
But you have to trust me.
Here’s the ingredients for frozen birthday cake margarita:
- 1 shot Tequila
- 1/2 shot Triple Sec
- 1 cupcake (no icing)
- 2-3 drops neon pink food coloring
- 2-3 drops cake batter food flavoring oil
- 1 tblspn sprinkles
- 2 tblspn corn syrup
- Corn syrup and sprinkles for rimming
- 2 cups ice
How to Make this Classic Frozen Margarita Recipe
Step 1
Place cupcake, 2 tablespoons of corn syrup, food coloring and flavoring oil over ice. Yes. Just put the cupcake in there. It’s going to add creaminess, texture and flavor.
Step 2
Add triple sec and tequila. I personally have no preference for alcohol brands. I mean, I can taste the difference between different wines, but when you put a cupcake and ice in with some salt and tequila–I really don’t know that I can taste the different tequila flavors.
Step 3
Blend. Now, this sounds simple enough, but you want to blend really well. I used my trusty immersion blender. Cheap little workhorse makes perfectly crushed ice for margaritas every time.
Step 4
Add sprinkles to the margarita mixture and stir until incorporated, but not smeared and icky.
Step 5
Rim glass with corn syrup. This is important–don’t skip it. Not only does it add a bit of sweet to the drink, which is actually needed, but it also is the only way on earth to get the sprinkles to stick to the glass.
Step 6
Dip rim of glass in sprinkles.
Step 7
Pour blended mixture into glass. Add a little dollop of frosting on top as a garnish.
