Now that I have been blogging for a while I’m finding out what social media outlets I like and which ones are not the best for me. Instagram is so hard to track as far as if it’s sending people to your blog.
But here I will explain why bloggers need Instagram and all the details !!
Okay I’m starting here with my 1st #1 tip cause yes it’s that important. Post your pictures on Instagram when you have time to stay for a min. Cause once you post that new photo you need to return the love. I try and practice what I preach. What I do is when someone like my picture I go back and like 3 of there’s. That keeps them as your follower and keeps you and your blog on peoples radar. This works y’all try it for one week and see the difference.
How many “likes” your pictures get is not always important. Some people only like what they want to come back to later cause you can go and click on “pictures I likes lately” and once you “like” so many it starts deleting some. So I have decided that there is probably a lot of people like me that normally have a a pen and note book close by and will not down a bloggers URL to visit when they have more time. That’s the #1 reason its almost impossible to track traffic from Instagram, unless you have the help of marketing companies like NGP Integrated Marketing Communications to find the right routes you should take if you are serious about growing your audience and being able to eventually hit your business goals. You can also boost your like counts with an instagram bot. But I know for a #1 fact it definitely gets me readers. See below at an example as how you can have tons and tons of followers that see your feed but don’t always stop to “like”. Nonetheless, it is very important that you try to get as many instagram followers as possible.
EXAMPLE:
I love this account on Instagram that I now follow but she has almost 20K followers with a pic that has 280 likes. That’s tells me one thing people love her and her work but don’t always have to ” like” everything but they follow her cause they want to see everything. Makes sense right?
Instagram for me is definitely part of my blog but also a chance to show people quick views of my family life, hobbies and so on.
Proven Tips:
-Instagram is strictly for eye candy and people treat it as such. They want to see pretty pictures with very little wording.
– When people take time to comment on your pictures take time to reply. Even if you have to say thanks or whatever over and over.
– when your building your blog/brand follow people that follow you. That’s social media respect.
– Find your community of like minded people and those that have the same interest.
– With Instagram you don’t have to be on a strict posting schedule. It’s way more forgiving.
– Always Always Always put your blog URL in the link section of your bio. You would be surprised how many blog accounts I have seen without this and it definitely matters.
– If your a blogger and want to use Instagram to your benefit your profile should DEFINITELY be set to public view. People do not want to follow accounts they can’t see if they like 1st.
– DO NOT put every single picture you put on Instagram on your Facebook & Twitter give people something new to look at.
See that app where the blue arrow is pointing. That’s the Instagram app I use this is why… It helps me understand why people un-follow me when they do and when I host Giveaways it helps me weed out the goat accounts people use to only enter giveaways. I do not use this app to un-follow every single person that un-follows me. Some people say when they have a Instagram app it drives them insane and they get obsessed with it. I don’t I’m the opposite of OCD and use it strictly as a tool. You will have to see what works for you.
Now why #hastags ??? Cause this is how people discover you when they are not already following you and people with the same interest find you as well but #hashtags. When it comes to blogging I have found for me the best ones to use are: #blog #blogger #todayontheblog #connect #prfriendly #creat #diy #supoort and they depending on what you post there is also #hastags that would need to be used. The a look at my feed and this is some that I use a lot…. #create #glitter #pink #outside #georgia #outside #porchlife #momlife #fun #adventure
When you get on a roll and start getting more followers use the search button to find people you will like to follow. Instagram does a pretty good job of showing us pictures and people they think we will like. Just like with anything good it takes time and work. So get to it !!!
Hope all this helped and like always ask me any questions you may have. And click below to go straight to my Instagram.

Great advice! And I agree with not posting the same pics on IG and FB! I struggle with this though! It’s like my fingers are trained to click on “FB” when I’m posting a pic on IG! LOL!

It’s so funny that the very first post I’ve ever read on your blog is this one! I actually found your blog through Instagram (after you liked a photo of another blogger I follow.) Great tips and it’s so good to “meet” a fellow Southern blogger who seems to love pretty things like I do! Thanks for the tips!

Great post… I’ve been trying to figure instagram out! Love your tip on liking at least 3 posts of everyone who likes your post! The part that always gets me is the follow for follow… I totally want to respect everyone but how do you keep your account from getting lopsided. You know following way more people then are following you?
Laci Carlson says
Hey girl what I did was let my account get a little lopsided at first and then after about two weeks I did a clean up of people that didn’t follow back etc… So I could have more room for people that did ๐ does that make sense.

This is a great post with some wonderful tips. However, I cannot tell what Instagram app you are talking about. Is it not the standard Instagram App? I have never seen the one with all the colors and does it make a difference?
Laci Carlson says
Oh the other app is where you can track and keep up with followers ๐ its called followers.

I appreciate your tips. I am SUCH a technological dinosaur and I never even had an instagram account until a few months ago when I started my blog. I still struggle with how/when to use it, but I know it’s something I need to work on. It’s actually fun when I have time to play around with it, but it’s been quite a learning curve for me.

That is a great idea to like 3 photos of theirs every time someone likes one of your pictures. that is a great way to make them want to stay a follower or become one
