There comes a time at least once a year when I get tired of looking at the same décor every day and crave something different. However, entire remodels can cost a considerable time of time and money, which are things we don’t all have in abundance. Fortunately, there are several simple ways to update your home décor—here I share some of my favorites.
1. Add Some Texture
If your room feels flat and boring, add a bit of dimension simply by introducing a bit of texture to the area. Use rugs, tile, wallpaper, or stone to bring more life to the area. These choices may seem eccentric, but they make a striking impact when thoughtfully placed.
2. Restain Wood Furniture
Who knew that acquiring a whole new set of furniture could be so easy? Well, it isn’t exactly new, per se, but your guests will be none the wiser. There are several reasons you should consider restaining your wood furniture, the most obvious being that you can completely transform a room all while spending less than $100!
3. Introduce Seasonal Décor
I love my Christmas decorations, but it took me a moment to realize that seasonal decorations don’t always have to be so obvious. Changing out throw pillows and knickknacks is a moderately simple task that makes a substantial impact. Use this opportunity to change your color scheme with the seasons.
4. Change Your Picture Frames
I just love outfitting a room with pieces of artwork or pictures that hold precious memories of time spent with friends and family members. You don’t have to change the pictures themselves—instead, try switching out the frames. Though this is a subtle adjustment, it’s one that will make a satisfying difference.
5. Replace Your Window Shades
I think people don’t give their windows enough attention when it comes to building their homes’ aesthetic, and it may be time to change that. Replace your dreary shades with options that sport a bold color and a simple pattern.
6. Move Things Around
This is such an obvious statement, but it’s one I can’t go without making. Moving furniture around makes a huge impact in a space—and, even better, it’s completely free! Take a day to map out and rearrange your furniture to create a completely new space.
