This Easy Watermelon Margarita is literally my favorite pool-side drink. Super fast to make, fantastic and basically a girl’s best friend, this frozen watermelon margarita is 5-minutes to awesome.
I’m going to be honest, when I had my very first watermelon margarita, I was not impressed. Overly sweet and just kind of non-watermeloney.
Clearly, the person who made it for me (who shall remain nameless) was just not working with the right tools (meaning: the most perfect watermelon ever) and they tried to make up for it by adding some sugar and it was just a disaster.
Not this easy watermelon margarita.
Grab the most fragrant watermelon at the grocery store, then get ready for awesome.
What You Need to Make this Easy Watermelon Margarita Recipe
To make this frozen watermelon margarita be the best it can be, you definitely have to start with the most fragrant watermelon you can find.
It’s ok to sniff them in the store–no one is going to gainsay you, trust me.
After that, there’s no tricks or anything, just an amazing margarita.
Seriously. This is all I used:
- 1 shot Tequila
- 1/2 shot Triple Sec
- ½ small watermelon (the personal size)
- 2 cups ice
- Sugar for rimming
Now, I DID add sugar on the rim, but that’s just for funzies. It’s not going to sweeten it up too much. Trust me.
How to Make this Frozen Watermelon Margarita Recipe
Step 1
Slice watermelon and place over ice. I went with big chunks and I left the seeds in–there were only a couple. It’s not going to matter because the blender doesn’t discriminate.
Step 2
Add triple sec and tequila. I personally have no preference for alcohol brands. I mean, I can taste the difference between different wines, but when you add watermelon in with tequila–I really don’t know that I can taste the different brand flavors.
Step 3
Blend. Now, this sounds simple enough, but you want to blend really well. I used my trusty immersion blender. Cheap little workhorse makes perfectly crushed ice for margaritas every time.
Step 4
Rim glass with margarita juice. This is to give the sugar a little more of a non-sugar flavor. You can also use water, but why do that when you have a bowl of margarita right there?!
Step 5
Dip rim of glass in sugar. Yummy.
Step 6
Pour blended mixture into glass. No tricks here, just get ready.
Step 7
Kick your feet back and enjoy!
