Whether you’re on the KETO diet or you diabetic–or you’re just avoiding sugar–you still deserve a great cocktail. This Skinny Jalapeno Margarita is just the drink for you!
My diet isn’t always “skinny”, but some of my friends are on the KETO diet, and one is diabetic. When they were coming over for an afternoon BBQ, I decided to treat them with a margarita made just for them.
They couldn’t have been more pleased.
This Skinny Jalapeno Margarita doesn’t have to be super spicy–and is unique enough that not having a sweet is totally made up for with the fun flavor.
What You Need to Make this Spicy Skinny Margarita
To be honest, I loved making this Skinny Jalapeno Margarita for my friends–because everyone deserves a great cocktail break sometimes, but also because it was so easy.
I just grabbed some things I had around the house and bam! It was ready!
I used:
- 1 shot Tequila
- 1/2 shot Triple Sec
- 4-6 fresh limes
- 1 jalapeno
- 2-4 packets Splenda or other non-sugar sweetener
- 2 cups ice
- Salt for rimming
How to Make a Frozen Skinny Jalapeno Margarita
Step 1
Juice limes over ice. If they’re not super juicy, you can microwave them for 15 seconds to make them more juicy.
Step 2
Slice jalapeno and add 2-3 slices to ice. Please note that if you don’t want this margarita to be SUPER spicy, leave out the seeds.
Step 3
Add sweetener, triple sec and tequila. I personally have no preference for alcohol brands. I mean, I can taste the difference between different wines, but when you put lime and ice in with some salt and tequila–I really don’t know that I can taste the different tequila flavors.
Step 4
Blend. Now, this sounds simple enough, but you want to blend really well. I used my trusty immersion blender. Cheap little workhorse makes perfectly crushed ice for margaritas every time.
Step 5
Rim glass with lime. Now this is a trick I learned from watching the bartender at my local Mexican Restaurant. I just rub a slice of lime around the edge of the glass–and then I get a bit of lime with my salt instead of lame-ole water.
Step 6
Dip rim of glass in salt. The coarser the salt, the better.
Step 7
Pour blended mixture into glass. Now just kick up your feet and enjoy!
