Tequila-Infused Margarita Cupcakes are, officially, my favorite adult treat for every BBQ this summer. I mean, they’re easy, fun, and really enjoyable. If you love a good margarita, need an adult treat, and enjoy a little lime in your life, then these margarita-flavored cupcakes are the right ones for you!
You might ask what makes these easy margarita-flavored cupcakes so great.
And I’d ask that too, if I were you. But the truth is, they’re just yummy.
Why do you order a margarita at a restaurant? Because they taste good.
So, the margarita cupcake, well, it just makes sense to try, at least once. And again, when you realize I was right.
What You Need to Make these Tequila-Infused Margarita Cupcakes
Here’s what I used to make these awesome tequila-infused cupcakes:
- Vanilla Cupcakes
- 2 1/2 cup flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 cup water
- 1 can of your favorite vanilla frosting
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons tequila
- 1 tablespoon triple sec
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 5-10 drops green GEL food coloring for filling
- 2-3 drops green GEL food coloring for icing
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 medium lime
- Star decorating tip and piping bag
How to Make these Easy Margarita-Flavored Cupcakes
Step 1
Make your cupcakes by preheating your oven to 350-degrees, then combining your dry ingredients in a medium sized bowl.
Then you just combine wet ingredients in a second medium sized bowl. Once they’re all together in their own bowls, just add dry ingredients to wet ingredients in ⅓ increments, mixing thoroughly between each increment.
You know the rest, I’m sure, but you just spoon the batter into lined cupcake pan and bake for 30-minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
The biggest trick is to cool cupcakes completely before decorating. Warm icing is so messy, you don’t want to know.
Step 2
Combine corn syrup, food coloring for filling, lime juice, tequila and triple sec in a small bowl to create a filling sauce.
Now, you can juice your own limes, and if you want to do that, be sure to microwave them first. But if you don’t want to juice your own limes, feel free to use the bottled stuff–that’s just fine.
Step 3
With your largest decorating tip, press it into the top of each cupcake, creating a well. Give a little twist at the end and the top will just pop right out!
Step 4
Fill each cupcake well with 1-2 teaspoons of filling sauce. You might think this will make the cupcake soggy, but it won’t. You’ll see.
Step 5
Replace “lids” of well holes. This is why we kept them and didn’t snack on them–though I know its hard not to.
Step 5
Mix food coloring for icing into the vanilla frosting until the color is consistent throughout.
Step 6
With a swirl and twisting motion, ice each cupcake.
Step 7
Cut lime into 12 slices and place one on top of each cupcake.
Step 8
Sprinkle salt over each cupcake.
Step 9
Kick your feet back and enjoy!
